About the House

WHIMSICAL ADVENTURE

The Upside Down House, located in Melville, Port Shepstone, with its breathtaking sea view, certainly adds a unique twist to the concept of unconventional attractions.

Melville is known for its stunning coastal views along the Indian Ocean. By placing The Upside Down House here, we've made the most of the spectacular scenery, offering visitors an unconventional way to enjoy the sea view. The house is strategically positioned to maximize panoramic ocean views, creating a surreal experience where visitors feel as though they are seeing the sea from an upside-down perspective

Designed to mirror the traditional Upside Down House concept, the structure has the roof on the ground and the foundations in the air. Inside, the furniture, fixtures, and decor are arranged upside down to maintain the illusion. The exterior blends seamlessly with the coastal landscape, using materials and colours that complement the natural surroundings.

Likely to become a noteworthy attraction, The Upside Down House will draw tourists interested in quirky, one-of-a-kind experiences. As a landmark in Melville, it enhances the local tourism appeal and offers visitors unforgettable photo opportunities against the backdrop of the sea.

The Upside Down House Melville also serves as an artistic space, showcasing the work of local artists and contributing to the area’s cultural vibrancy. We may host exhibitions or workshops to engage visitors and spark creativity

Beyond its novelty, The Upside Down House Melville offers educational value by inspiring discussions about art, architecture, and perception. It entertains visitors of all ages by challenging their senses and encouraging them to interact with the environment in new and unconventional ways

In summary, The Upside Down House in Melville, Port Shepstone, is a captivating addition to the area’s attractions, blending art, architecture, and natural beauty in a thought-provoking and memorable way.

Visitors typically spend between one and two hours exploring the house and capturing creative photos—it's amazing to see the creativity that flows! Keep in mind, the house is also built at an angle, which contributes immensely to the illusion and the overall experience. We don’t operate on set timeslots for house viewings, nor do we limit the number of times each person can go in. In fact, it's usually only after the second or third visit that visitors truly begin to come up with their most creative photo ideas.
