About the House

INVERTED WONDER

The upside down house in Broederstroom, South Africa, is a unique tourist attraction known as the "Upside Down House Gallery." Located in the Magaliesburg region, near the Hartbeespoort Dam, this house is designed to look as if it has been flipped upside down, with its roof on the ground and its foundations in the air.

"The house is built to play with visitors' perceptions and create an illusion of being upside down. The exterior and interior decor are meticulously designed to reinforce this illusion, with furniture, fixtures, and even household items such as books and kitchen utensils mounted upside down."

"Beyond being a visual spectacle, The Upside Down House in Broederstroom also functions as a gallery showcasing the work of local artists. Visitors can appreciate and purchase various artworks displayed in this unconventional setting."

"It has become a popular tourist destination, especially among those visiting the Hartbeespoort Dam area and the Magaliesburg Mountains. The surreal experience of walking through a house turned upside down makes it a memorable stop for both local and international tourists."

"Visitors are encouraged to explore the house and take creative photos that play with the perspective of being upside down. The unconventional setting provides numerous photo opportunities, making it a favorite among those seeking quirky and Instagram-worthy shots."

"Apart from its entertainment value, the Upside Down House also serves an educational purpose by sparking conversations about art, design, and the human perception of space."

"Overall, The Upside Down House in Broederstroom offers a blend of art, illusion, and immersive experience, making it a must-visit destination for anyone interested in unique and offbeat attractions."

Visitors typically spend between one and two hours exploring the house and capturing creative photos—it's amazing to see the creativity that flows! Keep in mind, the house is also built at an angle, which contributes immensely to the illusion and the overall experience. We don’t operate on set timeslots for house viewings, nor do we limit the number of times each person can go in. In fact, it's usually only after the second or third visit that visitors truly begin to come up with their most creative photo ideas.

Jumping castles, and coin operated kiddies rides provide additional fun to the little ones too.

We look forward to welcoming you to view and experience this amazing piece of art.
